When it comes to showers vs. baths, there is strong opposition on each side as well as valid arguments for both. It’s not an easy decision to make, but at least there are some things that can help both causes to conserve a bit of water.

In order to conserve water in a shower, you can use a shower head that doesn’t allow quite as much water to pass through, this is generally regarded as a low-flow shower head. You can buy these at just about any home improvement warehouse, and they’re usually not too expensive. For those who are concerned about the environment this is definitely a good investment.

If you are using a bathtub then you can conserve water by not filling the tub all the way up. Generally a tub will require thirty gallons to fill, and that’s quite a bit of water wasted. It’s true that you won’t be able to completely immerse yourself in water during your bath, but you will be able to get yourself clean which is the aim of bathing anyway.

So now on to the big question, which is better: bathing or showering. Statistically a shower requires 13-14 gallons of water while a bath requires about thirty. This means that a bath requires twice as much water as a shower. But like we said, you can drastically reduce the amount of water in a bath by only filling it halfway. Take note that a gallon in the UK is two pounds heavier than a gallon in the US, and therefore is something to consider when you think about water conservation.

These figures are based on the assumption that you take short showers lasting about ten minutes in length. If you decide to take a shower that lasts for thirty minutes up to an hour then you will obviously be using much more water and might even surpass the water capacity of a full bathtub. Of course this is not an open and closed case because every individual is completely different. If you’re really interested in saving water though, there are some things that you can do.

The first thing that you can do obviously is take shorter showers, but as you know there is a time before the shower when we waste more water than we know. This is what we call the warm-up time. You know exactly what I’m talking about, it’s the time where you wait for the water to warm up in your bath. With showers this isn’t quite extreme because most people turn the shower off and jump back three feet as to not be hit by the cold water. Those who are smart will stand outside of the shower and turn the knob, but as you know not everyone has learned this.

If you are doing this during a bath then you can place a bucket under the faucet to collect the cold water. After you do this there are all kinds of things that you can do with it. One thing is watering the plants around the house, or even doing dishes later. The possibilities are endless!

So what we’ve learned here today is that whether you use a bath or a shower you are going to waste water. In spite of this the best option is a shower if you truly wish to conserve water. Taking short showers really is the answer, so if you think it’s for you then look into a low-flow shower head and start saving!

Amazon Kindle 2 Review: In Depth Amazon Kindle 2 Review

Amazon Kindle 2 Review: In Depth Amazon Kindle 2 Review

Before I ordered my Amazon Kindle 2 from Amazon, I read several reviews on the web. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of people out there that have written their own personal Amazon Kindle reviews. But, there are some people that truly do not understand the magnitude of this new innovative device (it’s current stage in development and how fast it’s market is growing) and there are some that do. While reading these reviews, it becomes very clear which category people fall in. To put it in another perspective, I work at top well-known investment research firm and without getting into too many specifics, lets just say we are very bullish on AMZN stock most specifically because of the huge potential of the Amazon Kindle in the emerging e-reader market. No I am not trying to give investment advice (thats not part my job) but I just want to make it very clear how excited I am about the product and its market in general. My Amazon Kindle 2 review is no holds barred and no BULL SHIP!

In the few weeks prior to the announcement of the Amazon Kindle 2, you couldn’t turn a virtual corner without stumbling over alleged rumors and “insider” information regarding the new innovative device. Last month, having played with my boss’s Amazon Kindle 2 at the office, I found myself in absolute lust for this gadget. Before I decided to order the Amazon Kindle 2 as Christmas gift for myself , I reviewed, reviewed, and REVIEWED several Amazon Kindle 2 websites, articles, and reviews. The following is my Amazon Kindle 2 review:

The Amazon Kindle 2 is not cheap! First of all, let’s not beat around the bush; I certainly wanted to know how much I was in for right away! As is the case for all other new / “hot” items, such as the iPhone 3Gs, Playstation 3, and LCD tv’s, (which were originally priced for hundreds more than the Amazon Kindle 2), the Kindle 2 is priced a little on the high end. Currently, the Amazon Kindle 2 is on sale for $259. Recently, Amazon’s CEO announced an “amazing” deal for Kindle 1 owners at a press conference: If they ordered within the next 24 hours, they could jump to the front of the line for pre-orders! There wasn’t even a discount offered, just the “privilege” of spending $259 quicker than non-existing Amazon Kindle 1 owners. What a great deal huh?? Later though, I considered some other factors. Relative to purchasing new books and best sellers on a regular basis, the Amazon Kindle 2 really isn’t that expensive. Have you looked at the price of new books lately?? They can be pretty expensive themselves, especially at big name stores like Barnes and Noble and Borders. Even online at Amazon, you’ll pay $50 for the Twilight Saga Collection and $15 for Sarah Palin’s new book (not that I would want to read her book anyway but you get the point!). Most e-books are $9.99 or less. Over the long-run, especially if you are enthusiastic book reader like me, the Amazon Kindle 2 is essential.

What does it look like? According to its creators, the key design objective was to make the Amazon Kindle 2 “disappear”. When we read a good book, we tend to get so immersed into the author’s world / story that the physical book eventually disappears. The thinking behind the Kindle was to make sure we are still able to get lost in the reading, not the technology. The Amazon Kindle 2 has a black-and-white 6” screen and uses electronic-ink display technology: the screen displays ink particles electronically to make it look like real books, newspapers, magazines, etc. As aforementioned, I sit on my butt all day in an office in front of a computer screen. During my lunch breaks and when I get home, the LAST thing I want to do is look at a computer screen!! However, I actually found that the Kindle’s screen has a pretty soothing contrast and looks like a real page. Also, the Amazon Kindle 2 does not use backlighting which eliminates glares for daytime / outdoor reading. The Kindle also has six adjustable font sizes and utilizes 16 shades of gray. So when your eyes get tired or if you have a book that has small font, you can make it bigger on the Kindle screen. Compared to the first version, the Amazon Kindle 2 is MUCH slimmer and more refined. It is about 1/3 of an inch in profile and weighs 10.2 ounces. That’s about the size of most magazines, only this gadget can hold up to 1,500 books in one!

The five-way joy stick: piece of crap?? The five-way navigation is like those pencil-eraser mice that come on laptops (in between the keys); I found it pretty intuitive but not that convenient. Sometimes I felt that the joystick was a little slow, but not a deal breaker. Something like a track ball on the Blackberry would probably be a better solution. A touch screen would be ideal! There are also page-turning buttons located on both sides and the screen can be rotated from portrait to landscape views for optimal comfort.

“Monotasking Hardware”. I read several reviews and comments on how the Amazon Kindle 2 only does ONE thing. First of all, let me just say that the Amazon Kindle 2 is NOT, I repeat NOT an iPhone!! Most cameras do only “one” thing, but like the Kindle, they do one thing very well. The bottom line about my digital camera is that as long as it takes high-quality pictures, I am perfectly content. The 2 GB storage capability is not for storing all kinds of content (music, maps, Facebook, Shazam, Table Tennis, Air Hockey, ESPN, etc.), it is for storing 1,500 BOOKS! If you’re in the market for an innovative reading device, why would you want to have all the aforesaid distractions? When you finish a book, you simply download another one and begin again. In short, the Amazon Kindle 2 may have one main function (reading) but you can still download a number of different formats in addition to books, like newspapers, magazines, and blogs.

Simplicity. The Amazon Kindle 2 is simple and easy to use. It is wireless and ready to go right out of the box; there are no cables, no setup, and no software to install. During the Amazon Kindle 2 review presentation, Amazon’s CEO showed a video where one lucky tester said he never read manuals (who does??), and he had no trouble at all using the Amazon Kindle 2 right away. The design team also claims to have improved the battery life on the Kindle 2. The Kindle 2 will stay charged for a week with wireless on and two weeks with wireless off (varies based on usage). However, I did see a few comments on the web that since both the Kindle 1 and 2 have long battery lives, the difference is hardly noticeable.

Is the Kindle too fragile? This is a touchy subject for some people. I read several reviews regarding the durability of the Amazon Kindle 2 and I found that it really depends on the person using it. Some people go through their day worrying that their Kindle may be too flimsy and that it might break in their bags. Of course nothing can replace the durability of a good-old-fashioned book; you can drop it, throw it, use it as a door stopper, and it will still be readable. Personally, I didn’t think it is that flimsy at all. I guess I can see how jamming a few books and magazines into your bag, and even the laptop (all together with the Kindle) can cause apprehension. However, when I have my Amazon Kindle 2, I’ll be carrying half as many magazines and books. Sounds like the problem is solved to me! On a side note, just like cell phones and laptops, there are also various Kindle cases you can buy separately for more protection. The Amazon Kindle 2 can read to you! True. With the Text-to-Speech feature, the Amazon Kindle 2 can read English books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs out loud while you’re on the train, as you’re walking, or when it gets too dark outside, at which point you can turn on the audio and listen to the rest of the chapter. You can even have the Kindle read to you while you drive from point A to point B. You can also choose between a male and female voice that can be sped up or slowed down according to your preference. Every now and then however, the reader will mispronounce items and may give wacky emphasis. For example, the reader has been known to pronounce “dash” instead of pausing at one; still not a deal breaker though.

E-books are the FUTURE. The Amazon Kindle 2 review presentation featured testimonials from Kindle 2 users, saying that they read now more than ever. I concur with this because I often leave books, magazines, and articles behind because I simply can’t carry all of them. Plus, I only read what I have on hand… doesn’t everyone?? The Amazon Kindle 2, with its instant access to over 390,000 books, will surely expand my reading horizons as well as yours as popularity continues to intensify.

As is the case with all new cutting-edge technology, the Amazon Kindle 2 has several negatives, but in my opinion, the benefits far prevail. Amazon has nailed the ebook market and will probably dominate for several years. I expect that we’ll be reading ebooks while we rocket to Mars in 2100. Whether you join the bandwagon now or later, it is inevitable. Send me a message if you have any questions regarding my Amazon Kindle 2 review.

Best-Selling Book Secrets

Best-Selling Book Secrets

Vist lowpricedkindlebooks

Everyone says, “Some day I’m going to write a book,” but few
actually do. So congratulations on a noteworthy achievement! Now
that you’re holding your book in your hands, after years of
research, writing, editing and rewriting, the last words you’ll
want to hear are, “That was the easy part.” Well, unfortunately,
that was the easy part. Unless you don’t mind your only fans
being family and close friends, or unless you’re already a
celebrity with a big publishing house behind you, your new
challenge will be letting the world know about your book so
someone will actually read (a.k.a. buy) what you’ve so
laboriously created. And the hard reality is that, in the
madness of today’s publishing environment, the onus for
successful book promotion lies almost exclusively with the
author. Whether you fought your way through to a mainstream
channel or decided to self-publish-whether you’ve written a
self-help tool or a novel-odds are good that a publicist won’t
be calling you tomorrow morning with a jam-packed itinerary of
book signings and television interviews. Some of you may have a
little help if you’re mainstream, but all of you will carry the
lion’s share. So, where do you begin? First of all, your book is
no longer “your baby,” but a business-and as with any business,
you must have a Marketing Plan. Number One in your plan should
be creating a website that will help facilitate everything else
we’ll cover in this article. If you already have a website
(business or otherwise), add a banner headline announcing
publication on your Home page. If you don’t have a website
and/or don’t know how to create one, Google how to create a
website, and plenty of user-friendly links will come up. The
point is that your website should showcase your book as the
feature, and you should offer the book for sale right there.
Sign up for a Pay Pal account, if you don’t already have one
(www.paypal.com ). This is an easy,
affordable way for you to offer buyers a means to pay with a
credit card, and that feature alone will help drive more books
out the door. Next you’ll need to develop a Sell Sheet
consisting of: a) a summary of your book in 50 words or less; b)
an author biography in one paragraph; and c) your field of
expertise and how that relates to your book (not always relevant
with fiction). Then identify your Target Audience-the “who” you
had in mind while you were writing. If you’ve written a novel,
will interested readers be male or female, young, middle-aged or
seniors, action or romance devotees? If your book is
non-fiction, are you targeting a certain business or profession?
Do you already have a client or seminar base that will be a
built-in market? If you don’t have a built-in base, what media
outlets (radio, television, print) will help you build one, and
which will be relevant and feasible? How do you get to Book
Reviewers? (Reviews are golden, even if they’re not glowing-and
reviews are mandatory for success. Without them, you don’t get
interviews, and the good ones become marketing tools.) Each
category and media market, by the way, can be easily researched
via the Internet, and each will have to receive a Review Copy of
your book. Once your target audience is clear, identify your
book’s Position with a single sentence that explains why someone
would want to buy your book over others in the same category.
This is an extremely important element because, with every
Review Copy you send out, you’ll have between 5 and 15 seconds
to catch someone’s attention. Finally (and you’ve probably
figured this out already), you need to decide how much money
you’re able and willing to spend on your book promotion. Guess
who buys all those Review Copies, for example? You’ll also need
business cards (focused solely on your book), bookmarks, “Just
Published” posters, announcement post cards, travel expenses and
so forth. But before you send out for oxygen, this new challenge
isn’t as daunting as you may think, because the majority of
Best-Sellers begin their successes locally. Your first contact
won’t be to the New York Times, but rather your local newspaper.
Send a copy of your Press Release (similar to your Sell Sheet
but a more familiar format to the media). If you Google how to
write a press release, you’ll find a wealth of tutorials. Then
use a “local author” angle to approach the Manager or Event
Coordinator in nearby book stores (small independent book
sellers and big chains like Barnes & Noble), first about
scheduling a book signing, and second about stocking your book
on their shelves. (The former will be easier than the latter.)
Check each store’s Event Calendar and attend several book
signings to see how they’re done. When you have a signing
scheduled, send invitations! Include everyone you’ve ever known,
if you can afford the stamps. Although you’ll want to do a
broadcast email to announce your book’s publication, signing
events require old-fashioned invitations to bolster turnout. The
book store(s) will also do a little advertising (usually very
little, i.e., a flyer by the cash register), but your best hope
for a large crowd resides in the people you already know. Use
your successes with local papers and book stores to secure
interviews with other media outlets. Google to seek out venues
in your area such as noon television news broadcasts and radio
talk shows that are willing to feature new authors. Remember,
every contact you make-through media, book stores, book
reviewers, libraries, everyone-will need to receive a Review
Copy of your book. Be sure to write REVIEW COPY in big, black
magic marker letters on the inside front cover to minimize
bootleg sales of all the books you’re sending out. Distribute
widely and generously all of your other promotional materials,
as well (Sell Sheets, Press Release, Business Cards…), and never
travel without two copies of your book. Take a handful on your
vacation. You just never know when a future fan will be standing
in front of you. This local focus will not only build success
from the inside out, but will also help minimize cash outlays
for airfare and hotels in the beginning. At the same time,
however, expand your base by listing your book for sale on sites
like Amazon and eBay (both sites have links that walk you
through the process), and by entering your book in contests
(have four or five on-going at any given time). Google again for
those contests germane to your book, but research the sponsoring
organization(s) before entering. Some are less reputable than
others. Contests offer tremendous publicity potential, though,
and many judges return valuable comments whether you win
anything or not. Lastly, set up an automatically inserted tag
line promoting your book at the bottom of every email you
generate. That’s free advertising that could circle the globe.
Obviously, the how-to’s of book promotion could fill volumes-but
the short version begins and ends with you. If you believe with
a passion that your book can be a Best-Seller, then others will
believe, too. Just keep in mind that, as with any project or
craft, the devil is in the details. Orchestrating a book
promotion can be a little like managing a goat rodeo, if all the
basics aren’t in place. Make your plan, have your props, and
then start calling on your local segment of the world. Every
success will breed another, and the boundaries of “local” will
continue to expand as far as you wish to push them. Of course,
none of this happens overnight, and wisdom suggests putting your
plans in motion while the book is still in the production cycle.
Then allow yourself a few captivating moments when you first
hold the “real thing” in your hands. Celebrate and feel that
well-deserved pride. Okay. Time’s up. The window of marketing
opportunity is the first year after publication, which doesn’t
leave room for many wasted days. Even though writing your book
was the easy part, selling your book is the fruitful part-and
nothing compares to the sound of someone saying, “I bought your
book, loved it, and recommended it to my friends.” May those
words ring familiar time and again along your personal path to
your own Best-Seller!

Shop Smart For Shower Filters For Copper And Chlorine

Shop Smart For Shower Filters For Copper And Chlorine
www.filteredwaterstore.com

Don’t buy water filters for shower heads until you know the facts. We all need shower filters for copper and chlorine, but there are some products on the market that are a real waste of money.

I don’t mean to sound cheap. But, why pay more, when you can get something effective for a fraction of the cost? We’re on a budget. So, I always shop around, comparing quality and performance. If I have to pay more to get better quality, then I will. But, when I began to compare water filters for shower heads, I realize that some of these companies are trying to rips us off.

“Wellness”, for example, is the most expensive brand on the market. They make unsubstantiated claims about the performance of their products. They have not had their products evaluated by independent laboratories, the California Health Department of other regulating agencies.

On the flip side of the coin, there are water filters for shower heads that do not remove copper or lead. They do not reduce hazardous chemicals that become airborne in the shower. Yet, they cost more than the most effective systems on the market.

When it comes to shower filters for copper and chlorine, there are only three products on the market with effective chemical reduction. The prices range from $67.99 to $249.00 for the Wellness brand.

Companies like “Paragon” and “Shower-wise” do not provide effective chemical removal, but there prices are about the same as the more effective shower filters for copper and chlorine. I’ve already mentioned that Wellness is a waste of money.

But, a $70 system that does not remove chlorine byproducts or metallic traces is also a waste of money. The Paragon and Shower-wise systems only reduce chlorine by 50% and do nothing to reduce chlorination byproducts. Those byproducts have been shown to increase your cancer-risk. The threat in the shower is believed to be greater than the threat in the kitchen. In other words, inhaling the fumes and allowing the chemical to soak into your skin is worse than consuming them in a glass of water.

So, you need shower filters for copper and chlorine that also remove THMs. The most effective systems remove more than 90% of those chemicals and about 70% of the lead and copper.

If you’re tall, you might want to rule out water filters for shower heads that reduce the shower head height. If you like an invigorating massage, you need to look for one with a flow-rate around 2.5 GPM.

If you have kids or if you like a tub-bath, you want to look for shower filters for copper and chlorine that have a removable wand. That way you can fill up the tub, too.

Once you find the right system, you will never go back to showering in chlorinated water. It’s almost like showering in spring-water. It feels that good. Hopefully, the information here will help you find the right water filters for shower heads and save some money, too.

Wasting Water vs. Conserving Water

Wasting Water vs. Conserving Water

Water is important, but it is also abundant. Or so most of us tend to think since we always have steady water supply. But water is not as abundant as you think, and scientists fear that at some point, the earth’s water supply will be depleted. If you think you’re not contributing to this possibility, think again. There are many ways water can be wasted, and you might be guilty of most of them.

How you might be wasting water

Leaving the water running when doing certain tasks

This is a common way of wasting water, which some people are not even aware of doing. This is commonly done when people brush teeth, wash their face, or wash the dishes. Sometimes, out of sheer habit, people simply forget to turn the water off. Try to be conscious of your actions when using water. Shut off the faucet when brushing your teeth or soaping the dishes, then turn it on for rinsing.

Using a dishwasher

If you think using a dishwasher can keep water from getting wasted, then you’re in for a surprise. Make sure you use your dishwasher properly; if not you will waste more water than you realize. Run your dishwasher only when it is full. It would also help to look for an Energy Star qualified dishwasher.

Showering and shaving

A lot of men and women leave the water on while shaving to have water ready when it’s needed. What you can do, however, is fill the sink halfway with water then turn off the faucet. Also, while putting conditioner on your hair, you can turn off the shower while waiting for your hair to get conditioned.

Washing cars

Using a hose when washing cars can waste a lot of water. If you want to conserve water, use a bucket of water instead then use the hose for the final rinsing. And if you have a lawn, washing the car on the lawn will also water the lawn in the process, saving you even more water.

Leaking pipes

Do a regular check up of all your pipes, faucets, and toilets to make sure there are no leaks. Leaks can waste a lot of water. You may think that leaks are insignificant since they only release small droplets of water anyway. But it does so constantly. In an entire day that a leak is left unattended, you already waste up to around 200 gallons of water. If you see a leak in any of your pipes, faucets, or toilets, make sure to have it fixed as soon as possible.

Throwing stuff into the toilets

Do not throw anything into your toilets. Toilet bowls are not garbage cans. Some people throw tissue paper, hair, dead insects, and so on into toilet bowls then flush them down. This is an unnecessary use of toilet water.

Conserve water with help

You can get help in conserving water so you can save a lot of water at home, which will also help you save money in the process. What you can do is buy efficient water appliances such as low-flow showerheads and faucets. For water treatment systems, choose a unit that prevents backwashing, which wastes a lot of water. And to save energy as well, look for Energy Star qualified products such as water treatment systems.

Tips On Conserving Water In The Kitchen

http://filteredwaterstore.com/?p=455

How you use water in your home on a daily basis affects the environment. It’s very easy to take advantage of this precious resource because of its availability. With hotter summers and increased droughts, however, it is important to save every little drop. Here are some tips on ways you can do your part in the fight to conserve water in your kitchen.

Rather than washing fruits and vegetables under continuous running water, fill up a large bowl and do the major cleaning in there. Once the produce has been cleaned, rinse it quickly a final time under running water to wash off any additional pesticide, herbicide, and fungicide residue.

Think ahead and make sure you plan meals before you step into the kitchen, especially if it involves cooking meats that are in the freezer. A common household trick is to thaw meats and other frozen foods in running hot water.

The problem with that is the water would need to be on a hefty length of time to fully thaw the food. There are several options for thawing foods. You can either defrost it in the microwave or by leaving it in the refrigerator overnight or you can fill up a pot full of water and thaw the meat on the stove on low heat.

If you have an ice maker in your fridge, refrain from using it. Your drinking water can be just as cold as ice if you leave it in the fridge. If you use a sink filter, put the water in enclosable pitchers. If you purchase bottles of gallons of water at the grocery, put those in the fridge as well.

By far, the dishwasher is the biggest water-consuming device in your kitchen. Opt for a water-efficient model if you can. When using the dishwasher, make sure you only run full loads. An incredible amount of water is wasted when the dishwasher is used for only several dishes. To prevent having to run the dishwasher on another cycle to get rid of tough food debris, make sure you scrub your dishes with a brush first. Don’t scrub them under running water. Fill up on side of your sink to help with those stubborn stains.

When washing dishes by hand, fill up one side of the sink for washing and the other for rinsing. Alternately, if you prefer not to fill up the sink with water to wash, make sure you put a bit of water on each dish to soften the food debris. When it’s time to wash, don’t run the water while scrubbing. Use a minimal amount of soap so rinsing will require less water.

Remember: A little bit goes a long way. Applying these tips and others in your daily routine will affect not only your water bill but also the well-being of the world.

Bathing water is made clean and pure by the cleansing systems known as shower filters. Water is made fit for bathing by these via removal of impurities and dust from the water so that it becomes clean enough for bathing. According to individuals’ requirements and needs, shower filters can be selected from those of different types that are on sale in the market. The exact needs of a buyer can be met by picking the shower filter that suits these in the best way. Floating as well as dissolved impurities can be removed and the water’s purity can thus be ensured through the use of shower filter systems.

Up to 95 percent is the extent to which the chemicals like sulfur and chlorine are cleaned from the water, in order to make it fit for bathing, along with other impurities like dust, by shower filters. Hair and skin become shiny, when water cleansed by shower filters is used for bathing, as hair and skin are protected against drying up.

The content of oxygen in the water is increased by up to ten times, even as the content of dirt is reduced by up to 99%, when shower filters are made use of. Heavy metal traces are cleaned up, in addition to hydrogen sulfide and iron oxide removal and inhibition of fungus and mold. The quality of the shower is improved and the pressure of water is increased, on this account.

Besides the fluoride, the water is cleansed of traces of chlorine by the filter that the shower filter systems are equipped with. Various diseases are prevented and water is made suitable for bathing, because of the virtual elimination of chlorine. Many diseases like eye afflictions, rashes of the skin, cancer, among others, may be caused because of chlorine as among the substances that dissolve in water it is often described as being one of the most harmful.

Even when it is not ingested, the chlorine gas that is produced when water in which it is mixed is heated can prove to be dangerous. The skin is affected because of the gas made when a mixture of water and chlorine gas is warmed. The lung tissues can be affected directly when, at the time of taking a shower, the gas is inhaled.

Taking a shower, the chemicals that can be a trigger for health issues because of the chlorine may not be fully aware of. Most of the time the effects can be brought down by up to 90% by using a good shower filter. In particular, if one has a sensitive body, the condition can be improved, since protection is provided against chlorine by the shower filter. In these ways, removal of water carrying diseases and contaminants is provided by the shower filters.

Portable and handy are appropriate words for describing the shower filters that are presently available. These can be installed easily and can also be carried easily. Easily connected and installed to the shower, providing clean water instantly. The usage frequency and the quality of water determine the performance of the cartridges used in shower filters, although these can generally be used for nine to twelve months, without any problems.

In order to provide safety from bacteria and germs that is complete, there are three stages, generally, in a shower filter system. Good looking shower filters are being made and distributed by many manufacturers specializing in up to the minute designer products,. The structure and ambiance of the bathroom is enhanced to a considerable extent, when such shower filters are installed there. Easily replaces as well as cleaned makes these very popular.

As seen on Oprah – Shower Filters Can Increase Health of Hair!

Visit filteredwaterstore.com

Dr. Mehmet Oz, vice-chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University and health expert on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” recently talked about the importance of shower filters on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

While many people think hair loss is mainly a problem with men, Dr. Oz asserts that 40 percent of women also suffer from hair loss. “You’ve got to treat [your hair] like a fine silk blouse that got wet,” Dr. Oz said on the show. “If you’re blow-drying your blouse that got a little wet or if you’re combing it backward over and over again, or if you’re too rough with it, it begins to fray. Your hair has to be dealt with extraordinarily gently.”

And when it comes to treating your hair gently, Dr. Oz argues, a charcoal filter in your shower head is the best thing you can do. A filter can help eliminate chlorine in the water, which can dry up your hair.

In addition to being a health expert on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Dr. Oz is also chief medical consultant to Discovery Communications. He has written three “New York Times” best-sellers, including “You: The Owner’s Manual,” “You: The Smart Patient,” and “You: On a Diet.” The Castle Connolly Guide annually lists him as one of the best physicians in the United States.

While on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Dr. Oz was demonstrating the value of filtering out chlorine in your shower while holding a Culligan hand-held shower filter.

The Culligan WSH-C125 Wall-mount Showerhead with Shower Filter is a great choice for hair health. One of the features is that it reduces chlorine taste and odor and scale for softer, cleaner skin and hair. The shower head offers five (5) spray settings (full body, soft rain spray, invigorating pulse, full body spray/rain combo, and full body spray/pulse combo) for added comfort and includes an anti-clog rubber spray nozzle.

With its quick and easy installation (with no special tools required), the Culligan WSH-C125 is a great choice for any household. In a matter of minutes, you can enjoy a cleaner and healthier shower for the entire family.

Jamin Arvig, J.D., president of Commercial Water Distributing LLC of Zumbrota, Minnesota, says, “For men and women looking to make healthy decisions, shower filters are a quick and affordable choice. And, the Culligan WSH-C125 will quickly make you forget your old showerhead/filter.”

Green Gadgets Help Conserve Water And Money

Green Gadgets Help Conserve Water And Money

People spend hundreds of dollars every year on keeping their lawn and garden looking lush and beautiful. It continues to be an unspoken contest between neighbors as to whose yard and flowers can look the best. And when the weather doesn’t provide the needed moisture to achieve that beauty, most people won’t hesitate to pay for sprinklers and extra water. But if you’re looking for a way to conserve that precious water and your hard-earned money, you’ll want to check out these two green gadgets.

One simple, yet innovative water-conserving gadget is the Collapsible Rain Barrel. With this handy Rain Barrel you can use the weather to your advantage and save money on your next water bill. Simply place the Collapsible Rain Barrel under your rain gutter’s downspout to catch up to 52 gallons of water.

Equipped with a filter that keeps out leaves and other debris, the rain barrel will catch and hold runoff water throughout the season. Then when it hasn’t rained for days and your flowers are looking dry, just use the conserved rain water rather than rolling out the hose. In fact, the Collapsible Rain Barrel also features a threaded release valve so you can hook up your hose just like you would to the water faucet. And when the cold comes and your lawn and flowers are done for the season, the rain barrel collapses so you can easily store it away for winter.

Another great, green gadget for conserving water is the Intelligent Sprinkler Controller. You will be impressed by this gadget’s ability to sense the weather and control your water use accordingly. You won’t have to bear the unneeded expense of watering your lawn if nature is promising to do it for you.

The Intelligent Sprinkler Controller is a money-saving and water-saving gadget that not only allows you to put your sprinklers on a timer, but also detects when it’s going to rain. Using a built-in barometer, the Sprinkler Controller actually monitors air pressure and cancels its sprinkling schedule if rain is in the forecast within the next 12 hours. Then if no rain is being detected the controller automatically returns to its pre-set, scheduled sprinkling time.

All you have to do is attach your sprinkler controller to any standard spigot. Then set the day of the week, time, and duration of watering with the five-button control panel and LCD display. This handy outdoor gadget will even calculate how many gallons of water you are saving when it’s not watering during a rainstorm.

Why You Should Own a Kitchen Water Filter

Why You Should Own a Kitchen Water Filter

My house has a kitchen water filter. Does yours? If you don’t, you need to read this article. Even if you do you need to read this article.

If you don’t have one you need to read this article, because I am going to tell you the importance of a kitchen water filter. And if you have one, you must be interested in drinking pure clean healthy water, so you need to read this article to be sure your filter is the best and is filtering out all the unwanted dangerous chemicals that lurk in our water supplies.

Deborah Levy, Waterborne Disease Expert, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, says, “There’s no telling precisely how many Americans get sick each year from drinking bad water . . . I would say that the cases we learn about are the tip of the iceberg.”

I would imagine given this ladies job, she knows what she is talking about. I am by no means on the same level as her expertise, but I know I have gotten sick from contaminated water before and it is no fun. Many times I have been traveling and have not had water filtered out of my kitchen water filter, and I have come down with flu like systems, and I believe it was from the water I consumed.

I know most city water companies try to filter out all the deadly contaminates, but they just don’t do a good enough job. Most of them use a reverse osmosis system that removes some of the large contaminates, but the liquid chemicals still make it into our water supply.

The membranes used in the reverse osmosis systems are not adequate to remove the many chemicals and tiny particles that get into are water supplies. The farmers of today use many more chemicals than in the past, and many of the “experts” that are trying to keep our water safe, can’t keep up with all that even needs to be tested to be sure that the dangerous substances are not in our water.

To be on the safe side you need to find a company that does the testing, and guarantees you that the toxic chemicals that are in the water supplies in this country can get through their kitchen water filters, because they use multiple filters, like granular activated carbon filters, sub-micron filters, and multi block filters combined to filter out everything harmful.

You want to shop carefully and read the specifications; to be sure they filter out chlorine, lead, pesticides, weed killers, arsenic, and other dangerous chemicals. Many kitchen water filters will just filter out a few of the dangerous substances, so read carefully and know what you are buying when shopping for a water purification unit.

Juanita Ruby is passionate about health. She knows our bodies contain more than 70% water, thus the quality of our water greatly affects our health. She uses a water filtration system to purify her water. Visit her website at http://www.your-best-water-site.com/ to discover which water purification system she trusts for her health.

6 Reasons Why a Water Filter is Essential

6 Reasons Why a Water Filter is Essential

Water is essential for life and the human body is large made up of water. Water replaces lost body fluids and promotes cell metabolism and other vital functions. In fact every adult should consume around 8-10 glasses of water every day. This need would vary depending on size, weight, and health conditions. Children need more water and fluids than adults.

Clean water prevents ailments and diseases. In industrial environments clean water prevents contamination of process. World wide water filtration systems are in use to ensure that clean water is available for human consumption. Filtered water is used not just for cooking and drinking but for bathing purposes as well.

Drinking water comes from various different sources: wells, rivers, lakes, ponds, springs, rain, snow and so forth. Natural water can be hard or soft and contain many pollutants from the environment.Very often the water gets contaminated by bacteria, viruses, organic and inorganic substances. Contaminants in water include: taste and odor causing contaminants, rust and sediments, bacteria, parasites, lead, and other chemical poisons. And these could cause diseases. To ensure that water is clean for domestic or industrial use water filters are used.

1. Water filters remove dust particles from water.

2. Filtration also ensures that contaminants like fungi, cryptosporidium and protozoa gardia are removed from the water.

3. Filters are designed such that they remove harmful substances like lead from drinking water.

4. Bacterial and viral contaminations are also removed. Often water contamination is the source of wide spread gastrointestinal diseases.

5. The filtration process effectively removes excess chlorine, its byproducts, and volatile organic compounds from water.

6. Filtration however does not remove trace minerals contained in water that are essential for health. Most water filtration systems encourage adsorption.

Among all water purification systems filtration is the least expensive and does not require huge amounts of electricity. Filtration is efficient and does not waste water. There are many kinds of filters: whole house filters; under sink filters; faucet mounted filters; countertop or canister filters and so on.

The World Wide Web has immense information on water and filtration systems. You can read articles and tips on water filtration and view the various options available online at websites that are solely devoted to water filters for domestic and industrial use. Always comparison shop and compare product efficacies as well as price. The internet brings you the convenience of being able to buy a water filter for your home, office, or factory from your computer.

How Can Eco Friendly Water Bottles Contribute to My Health and The Health of The Planet?

How Can Eco Friendly Water Bottles Contribute to My Health and The Health of The Planet?

Let’s face it, we all need to do our bit to help the environment today and an eco friendly water bottle is one easy way to help. It can be glass or stainless steel and should contain no harmful chemicals in its composition. If you select the right one, then your health and that of our planet can improve and here’s how.

Did you know for example that over sixty million plastic bottles are used and thrown away each day in the US alone? Just think what that number is for the whole world!

With an eco friendly water bottle you are contributing towards reducing that number by using the same container over and over again and hopefully not buying or using any plastic bottles again for your water.

When you consider that bottled water is no better for you than the tap variety and in many cases is the same poor quality and comes from the very same source but costs $2 – $4 a gallon!

The best eco friendly ones are either glass which is of course 100% recyclable or stainless steel. Some very nice stainless steel ones have recently come out but you need to check that they have no chemical lining and are BPA free.

Plastic bottles and bottles with plastic lids all leach traces of certain chemicals into the water they contact and present a health risk with long term use.

The best thing you can do for your health is to use a home filtration system of some kind to give you pure healthy water to bottle your own with. When you consider we have pesticides, herbicides, prescription drugs and chlorine in our drinking water, it makes sense these days.

An eco friendly water bottle is essential these days if you want to stay healthy and contribute to saving the planet as we will soon come to a point where we simply run out of space and options as our landfills overflow.

A toxic future is something we can help to avoid by starting to become more earth friendly and make small and simple switches to alternative products and ways of doing things, like bottling your own water for starters.

Visit my website today if you would like to learn more about the type of eco friendly water bottle that I personally recommend and use.
